SickFit is excited to partner with Olympian track and field athlete Jorinde van Klinken. Jorinde is a fierce competitor as a shot put and discus thrower, and she constantly pushes herself to the next level. “I think it is so awesome to see what we are capable of with our own bodies, and there’s obviously many different ways to do that, but I really feel like I can push myself in throwing because there are some of my strengths that can really come together in those two sports. What inspires me most is when people do something they didn’t think they were capable of, and I just want to keep proving —to myself as well— that your capabilities are so much more than you think.”

Before finding her niche throwing, Jorinde enjoyed playing a variety of sports. “I just found that I was very explosive, strong, and fast, and that’s what you need for throwing,” she says with a smile. When she realized that she would rather train than do homework, her focus shifted from sports as extracurriculars to a serious commitment. “I got better at it, and obviously it gets more fun when you get better at it, so I kept on going… My motivation [grew] every year to train hard and put sports first.”

Her mental fortitude is on display as she discusses the challenges she has faced during training for the Paris Olympics. “We could probably talk an hour just about the challenges, but it’s also not something that I think about every day because then it gets in your way,” she laughs. “For how I deal with [challenges], I take something positive out of it or I focus on something else most of the time, but I think one of the biggest challenges is failure. Because most of the time you’re not going to get it right, and if you know that and if you accept it, then your new mindset can be ‘let’s get it right as many times as we can,’ or ‘let’s move on to this little detail and get that one right.’ Mindset, in my eyes, is the most important thing in being a world-class athlete. If you come to the championship and you’re not mentally ready, you’re not going to perform.”

Even as she heads into the 2024 Olympic Games, Jorinde continues to demonstrate her humility, downplaying her athletic prowess.

“When I was 10, it was like, ‘wow, people who make it to the Olympics are gods and goddesses!’ And now, I can’t think of it that way because I think of myself as just a normal girl from a small town in the Netherlands,” she explains. “It’s surreal if you think about it, to realize that you made it to the Olympics, which is such a small percentage of people.”

For SickFit, collaborating with Jorinde is more than a business partnership; it’s the joining of ideals and a shared goal of pushing the limits of performance while maintaining authenticity. Together, we are committed to inspiring compassion, purpose, and greatness.
